We received about two inches of snow, which is something of a rarity in this part of the country, overnight. I failed to bring my camera to my dad's house, which is unfortunate as the sun is beginning to melt the picturesque scene away. =(

In the meantime, I managed to take a few more random quizzes.

You Are Strawberry Ice Cream

My feelings toward the collectors' community can't fully be described right now - I'm very sorry to those I haven't paid yet, while at the same time, I'm furious. I know that most of you who are reading this have not yet seen this side of my personality, and you're probably thinking that I'm sounding really dumb. I'm sorry, but this needs to be said...

Do the rest of you not have actual LIVES in which you get so totally wrapped up that you occasionally lose track of your online doings?

Grrrowly, I know you want to smack my ****ing apology comment with every atom of your being.

Yeah, sincerest apologies and what-not. I suppose one could classify this entry under "multi-purpose", as it deals with several unrelated issues that are really consuming my thoughts lately.

First off, I'm really, really sorry to you, norkia - firstly, for saying I'd buy the Kids figures from you, and secondly, for not letting you know earlier whether I still wanted them (which I don't).

I still need to pay sakura_18_ and grrrowly for their items. I'm beginning to feel that people in the collectors' community won't continue to allow me to buy from them if they know I won't keep my word. I'm also getting the feeling of being looked down upon in all of my communities. I only joined because I was interested in those particular subjects and wanted to meet others who felt the same way. I had no intention of being a nuisance at all.

GRR. GRR. GRRRRRR. >>

My sincerest apologies for not posting earlier. Please don't think I've deserted LJ or anything of the sort. Lots of things have happened recently, and there just hasn't been time to update.

Bleh. Where to start...

About four weeks ago, I switched schools. My parents and I decided it would be the best choice for a number of reasons. In the past, drives to and from school lasted 45 minutes each on average. Time, money, and gas were constantly being consumed. If I actually made any friends, they would live nearly an hour away.

I wasn't happy at my previous school. Though I had been there since the second grade, I had never fully conformed to the atmosphere. Nearly everything took on an emphasis to be "big" and "loud". Those who really know me know I work best in a smaller, quieter environment.

After being one of the highest in my grade for years, I had recently hit a stumbling block in one particular class. Many days, I cried or made outbursts in class.

I believe that this change is definitely for the better. The new school is much better tailored to my needs. Though I had thought it extremely difficult at first, I've begun to socialize a bit and have warmed up to a few of the girls.

Homecoming is tomorrow. I'll be wearing the school colours - something I hardly ever did in the past. I suppose it is mostly out of gratefulness for the change.

Right now, I feel sick at myself for using what I consider very short, poorly-constructed sentences. I've always felt that I couldn't compose my thoughts as well when at the computer.

Off to bed, I suppose. Tomorrow's another day.

To those of you who celebrate, merry post-Christmas! We can finally relax now! =D

I finally have my own digital camera (inserts fangirl squeal), a Canon PowerShot A560, and I'm so thrilled to begin a new hobby in photography. Already, my shots are turning out very well, so say my mom and others. Though I love being on vacation, I can't wait for my digital photography interim class. We'll be traveling around the community taking pictures each day, then returning to the classroom to edit them and put them into scrapbooking programs.

For your viewing pleasure, there are two more shots from the Big Day under the cut. ^^

    <lj:music>Rest Awhile - They Might Be Giants</lj:music>

I went to Build-a-Bear Workshop with a friend today in honor of her birthday and immediately became entranced by the Tan Swirl Bunny. It seemed so irresistible with its uber-soft (I know, lame) fur and long, floppy ears. Plus, it was $2 cheaper than the other bunny they offered, whose eyes I couldn't even see due to all of its fur. Before my friend and her other guest had picked out their animals, I had made my decision.

Her name is Migu (I decided to leave out the hyphen), after the indie J-rock band spearheaded by Yuko Araki. She's 16 inches tall, weighs 9 ounces, and has brown swirled fur and brown eyes. And yes, she likes to play the drums. =)

After completing the heart ceremony and stuffing, we chose clothes. Since BABW has yet to put out lolita fashions, I decided on a set comprised of a light-green top edged with lace and a pair of coordinating bermudas (and even checked Limited Too for the matching outfit for me, but to no avail). Finally, I found a pair of hibiscus ear-bands which seemed at first to go perfectly, but I realize now that perhaps Migu could have gone without them.

As I attempt to situate her on my shelf, it comes to me that I might have pumped in a slight bit too much stuffing, as she is unable to sit unless she is propped up against something. Also, it appears the sole of her left foot was sewn on in such a way that causes that foot to turn slightly sideways. Nonetheless, Migu is a wonderful bunny whom I hope to enjoy for a long time.

Photos coming as soon as I receive my digital camera. ^^

Sorry, long time no post! My classmates and I just got back from seeing a theatrical production of several stories we've read in English class. For the most part, it was quite enjoyable. ^^

How will you celebrate the Christmas season this year? I plan to start by decorating the house on Friday, going to a party on Saturday, and singing in a community chorus production on Sunday. I'm continuing to work on my holiday wish list and would like to be able to grant some other people's wishes as well (either in journals, as pikachuashnat is doing, or in holiday_wishes).

You Are Donner

The most loveable and sweet reindeer, you're also a total dork!

Why You're Naughty: You keep (accidentally) tripping the other reindeer while flying.

Why You're Nice: You're always smiling, even if you've fallen flat on your horns.

Which of Santa's Reindeer Are You?

Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Hot chocolate.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Hmm...at my house, he's always left them unwrapped and arranged them festively around the room.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
It depends on which look I'm going for - coloured for warm and merry; white for wintry and serene. I like to alternate each year.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Not usually.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Usually within the first few days of December, though I'm planning to get them up on the day after Thanksgiving this year.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My grandma's "nuts-n-bolts" (sort of like a homemade Chex Mix).

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Too many to list! ^^ When I was six, I received my first trampoline, many Pokemon things, and an inflatable "beanless beanbag", which my cousins always wanted to sit on. I have several pictures of us all squished together on it. =D

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I was ten years old and I had just lost one of my last baby teeth. After discovering my present from the Tooth Fairy, I rushed into my mom's room to show her. On the way, I noticed that someone had left out a bag containing some tissue paper that looked exactly like the kind my present was wrapped in. I told my mom, and she became slightly embarrassed and explained. I soon began to wonder if the same was true for Santa, and, unfortunately, it was. He's still real in my heart, though. <3

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Well, how it works is that I celebrate with my dad's side of the family on the 23rd or so, and I open all of my presents from them then. I might open one gift from my mom on Christmas Eve, but I always wait until her side of the family comes over the next day to open the rest.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
It's an artificial tree, so my mom and grandma set it up and string the lights while I'm at school. When I come home, I usually do most of the decorating. I hang glass balls and candy canes first, then add the other ornaments. Most of our ornaments are either old family treasures or things that I made in preschool or early grade school, so there's a unique story behind each one. =)

11. Snow, love it or hate it?
Love it...but there hasn't been any where we live for years. =(

12. Can you ice skate?
No.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I've had several great ones - I Choose You Pikachu, my laptop, two trampolines, Nintendo DS and games.

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
The overall feeling of joy and togetherness that people experience (I wish I could word that better).

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Sugar cookies, especially with red and green sprinkles. ^^

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Getting out all of the decorations and trimming the whole house while listening to Christmas music.

17. What tops your tree?
The angel.

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Giving.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan.

20. Candy canes:
are yummy, especially with hot chocolate. =)

21. Favorite Christmas movie?
An All Dogs Christmas Carol or The Tangerine Bear.

22. What do you leave for Santa?
Pecan tarts and milk, plus carrot sticks and celery for the reindeer.
They've never left a single crumb! ^^

I'm not sure why I haven't felt like posting for the past three weeks. Most of my time here has been spent in communities and such, so I haven't been completely dormant. Otherwise, I've been busy with schoolwork and doings at home.

My science project isn't coming along so well. It took all of Monday's study hall for my teacher and me to set up, and we weren't able to clearly see any organisms until yesterday. I was, however, able to carry out the light and temperature tests at the same time by placing a heat lamp over the microscope, and I observed that the light was causing some of the protists to reproduce by dividing. Other than that, my chance of completing the procedure by next Friday looks considerably bleak. I still don't know exactly how I'll carry out the touch and sound tests. =/

- Pika

    <lj:music>Fidelity - Regina Spektor</lj:music>

Our trip to Gulf Shores was so much fun! -^^- I had the opportunity to play on the beach, shop, try some great seafood, work on Perler bead projects, and get some much-needed relaxation. The weather could easily be called perfect - refreshing fall breezes during the day and water still warm from summer. Highlights of the trip included the following:

- Discovering quite a large shell washed up on the shore. It's about 6 1/2 inches across at its widest point and completely intact save for a small rupture along the bottom.

- Observing a school of small, nearly transparent fish while wading along the shore. It was interesting to see them all dart in one direction at even the slightest disturbance.

- Building a sand sculpture of Toodee, the blue cat-dragon of Yo Gabba Gabba fame. (Photo to be uploaded soon, most likely into my YGG community.)

We ate at two restaurants we had never tried before and visited an outlet mall and at least three souvenir shops. All in all, it was an excellent time and I'm looking forward to our return in the spring. =)

Today I purchased a tray of Perler fuse beads plus some pegboards and vinyl cord to keep me entertained during our away-from-the-beach time at Gulf Shores. I bought them with the intention of being able to create charms, keychains, etc. that I could sell to members of my Pokemon communities if they commissioned so. Because I haven't worked with Perler beads since about the first grade, I've decided to start by making a couple of sample trinkets for myself. The only Pokemon patterns I've been able to find are this Pokeball and a Pikachu that requires a larger pegboard than I have.

So, any ideas for what I should make? =/

    <lj:music>Eigo de Asobo theme</lj:music>

While searching YouTube for videos pertaining to NHK's programming for kids, I stumbled upon this little wonder. It's from a series called Eigo de Asobo, or Let's Play in English. This particular episode was made in 1994, and though the show is still in production today, it has changed drastically in format.

<lj-embed id="1" />

The songs are adorable, and Mariyojo-sama's (sp.?) expression when she picks up her stiff T-shirt is priceless. ^^

After studying in the library for three hours, I was able to receive a Manaphy for my Pokemon Pearl game at ToysRUs. I was so excited - my mom even told me I was shivering while going through the download process! -^^- Taking advantage of their special "Pokemon Shop", I also picked up a new booster pack (containing a rare Drapion card - !) and an adorable Mantyke mini plush.

    <lj:music>Spoon - Cibo Matto</lj:music>

For the science fair this year, I'm testing the effects of typical stimuli (light, temperature, chemical changes) on protozoa. I'm surprised at how little of this type of information is online already. A couple of online books only touch on the subject, while most other sites focus on things like cell structure and such. Maybe I really will discover something. Make way for junior biologist! ^^

The protozoa are coming from here. I'm so excited!

Yes, it's derived from Pikachu. =/ I've been obsessed with Pokemon from a very young age. Pachirisu and Carnivine are my current favorites. =)
Through the years, I've been off and on a variety of tangents. As of now, I've become quite obsessed with an upcoming preschool show called Yo Gabba Gabba. It's colorful, bouncy, and simply awesome. =D I'd love to meet others who think the same.
